Liga Juara UEFA 2018-19 ialah musim ke-64 kejohanan bola sepak kelab utama Eropah yang dianjurkan oleh UEFA, dan musim ke-27 sejak ia dinamakan semula dari Piala Juara-Juara Eropah ke Liga Juara-Juara UEFA.

Perlawanan terakhir dimainkan di Wanda Metropolitano di Madrid, Sepanyol, antara Tottenham Hotspur dan Liverpool. Ia merupakan perlawanan akhir kedua Inggeris selepas final 2008, yang ditandingi antara Manchester United dan Chelsea di Moscow.[5] Liverpool mengalahkan Tottenham 2-0 dan telah memperoleh hak untuk bermain menentang Chelsea, pemenang Liga Europa UEFA 2018-19, dalam Piala Super UEFA 2019 ; mereka juga layak ke Piala Dunia FIFA Kelab Dunia 2019 di Qatar. Mereka secara automatik layak untuk peringkat kumpulan Liga Juara-Juara UEFA 2019-20 . Ketika Liverpool telah melayakkan diri ke peringkat kumpulan dengan meraih tempat kedua di liga domestik, dermaga dikhaskan untuk juara bertahan Inggeris diberikan kepada juara Liga Perdana Inggeris Bundesliga Austria 2018-19 - persatuan ranking ke-11 mengikut akses musim depan senarai.[6]

Real Madrid ialah juara bertahan, setelah memenangi setiap tiga gelaran terakhir. Mereka telah dihapuskan oleh Ajax pada pusingan 16.[8][9]

Perubahan format

Pada 9 Disember 2016, UEFA mengesahkan pelan pembaharuan untuk Liga Juara-Juara UEFA untuk kitaran 2018-2021, yang diumumkan pada 26 Ogos 2016.[10][11] Seperti peraturan baru, pemenang Liga Europa UEFA musim lalu akan layak secara automatik untuk peringkat kumpulan Liga Juara-Juara (sebelum ini mereka layak untuk pusingan main, tetapi akan dinaikkan ke peringkat kumpulan hanya jika pemegang gelaran Liga Juara-Juara berth telah dikosongkan, walaupun promosi ini ke peringkat kumpulan telah dibuat dalam tiga musim sejak ia ditubuhkan dari 2015-16). Sementara itu, empat pasukan teratas dari liga dari empat persatuan kebangsaan peringkat teratas dalam senarai pekali negara UEFA akan layak secara automatik untuk peringkat kumpulan.[10] Hanya enam pasukan yang layak untuk peringkat kumpulan melalui pusingan kelayakan, turun dari sepuluh pada musim sebelumnya.[12]

Peruntukan pasukan Persatuan

79 pasukan daripada 54 daripada 55 persatuan ahli UEFA menyertai Liga Juara-Juara UEFA 2018-19 (kecuali Liechtenstein, yang tidak menganjurkan liga domestik). Peringkat persatuan berdasarkan pekali negara UEFA digunakan untuk menentukan bilangan pasukan yang berpartisipasi untuk setiap persatuan:[12][13]

  • Persatuan 1-4 masing-masing mempunyai empat pasukan yang layak.
  • Persatuan 5-6 masing-masing mempunyai tiga pasukan yang layak.
  • Persatuan 7-15 setiap satunya mempunyai dua pasukan yang layak.
  • Persatuan 16-55 (kecuali Liechtenstein) masing-masing mempunyai satu kelayakan.
  • Para pemenang Liga Juara-Juara UEFA 2017-18 dan Liga Europa UEFA 2017-18 masing-masing diberi catatan tambahan jika mereka tidak layak untuk Liga Juara UEFA 2018-19 melalui liga domestik mereka.
