Gonokoks (Neisseria gonorrhoeae) ir gramnegatīva baktērija, morfoloģiski pieder pie diplokokiem. Patogēns cilvēkiem, ir ekstra- un intracelulārs parazīts;[1] izraisa gonoreju.[2]
Gonokoki producē oksidāzi. Atšķirībā no citām Neisseria, gonokoki fermentē glikozi un nefermentē maltozi, saharozi un laktozi.[2]
