Flatulence
Flatulence ir vēdera uzpūšanās ar biežu zarnu gāzu izvadīšanu caur anālo atveri. Skaļu vēdera gāzu izplūdi vulgāri sauc par pirdienu. Gāzu sastāvs veseliem cilvēkiem ir šāds: slāpeklis N2 — 24-90 %, ogļskābā gāze СО2 — 4,3-29 %, skābeklis О2 — 0,1-23 %, ūdeņradis Н2 — 0,6-47 %, metāns CH4 — 0-26 %, kā arī neliels daudzums sērūdeņraža H2S, amonjaka NH3, merkaptāna.[1] Daudzās kultūrās flatulence ir tabu.
