Djent

Djent ( /dʒ ɛ n t / ) ir progresīvā metāla apakšžanrs, kura nosaukums cēlies no ģitāras skaņas onomatopejas, kas raksturo tā skanējumu.[1][2][3] Lai gan tādi avoti kā The Guardian un Guitar World djent definē kā žanru, daži ievērojami mūziķi, tostarp Rendijs Blaits (Lamb of God) un Stīvens Kārpenters (Deftones), apgalvo, ka tā nav.[4]

Galvenās mūzikas žanra iezīmes

Djent kā mūzikas stilu raksturo progresīvs, ritmiski un tehniski sarežģīts skanējums, kurā tiek izmantotas polimetriskas (dažādu taktsmēru vienlaicīga lietošana) ritma struktūras. Kā piemēru var minēt grupas Animals as Leaders dziesmu "Cafo".[5] Stilam raksturīgas ģitāras ar smagu distorsiju, ar plaukstu klusināti akordi, sinkopēti (ritmiski nobīdīti) rifi un polimetri.[6] Vēl viena bieži sastopama iezīme ir paplašināta diapazona ģitāru lietojums — septiņu, astoņu, deviņu vai pat vairāk stīgu ģitāras.[7]
