Bitu ātrums

Telesakaros un skaitļošanā bitu ātrums jeb bitu pārraides ātrums (angļu: bit rate) ir ātrums, ar kādu tiek pārsūtīti biti. To mēra izsakot skaitļos pārraidīto bitu skaitu vienā sekundē (bit/s), bieži to savieno ar attiecīgo bitu mērvienības prefiksu "kilo" (1 kbit/s = 1,000 bit/s), "mega" (1 Mbit/s = 1,000 kbit/s), "giga" (1 Gbit/s = 1,000 Mbit/s) vai "tera" (1 Tbit/s = 1,000 Gbit/s).[1] To apzīmē ar burtu R.[2] Astoņi biti sekundē (8 bit/s) atbilst vienam baitam sekundē (1 B/s).
