Alkēni ir nepiesātinātie ogļūdeņraži, kas satur vienu dubultsaiti. Tos lieto par izejvielām spirtu ieguvei un par monomēriem. Alkēniem ir iespējama cis - trans (E - Z) izomērija, tāpēc, ka nav iespējama brīva rotācija ap dubultsaiti (nepieciešamais enerģijas daudzums ir tik liels, ka to vairs nevar uzskatīt par to pašu vielu).
