Biografija

1943 su šeima pasitraukė į Vokietiją ir apsigyveno Stuttgarte. Gyvendamas lietuvių stovykloje, baigė pradžios mokyklą ir pirmą gimnazijos klasę. 1949 atvyko į Australiją, 1950 apsigyveno Geelonge (Viktorijos valstija). 1950–1955 mokėsi Geelongo St. Joseph College, 1955–1959 studijavo Gordon Institute of Technology, įgijo mechaniko inžinieriaus specialybę. Papildomą discipliną pasirinko fortepijoną, kuriuo skambinti mokėsi penkerius metus pas įvairius pedagogus. 1950–1952 privačiai mokėsi skambinti fortepijonu pas R. Norvydą, išmoko griežti akordeonu ir vargonuoti. Studijuodamas fortepijonu ir akordeonu grojo „Saints" kapeloje, kuri griežė pokyliuose, šokiuose ir Lietuvių namuose. Kaip inžinierius dirbo Melburne, Geelonge ir kitur. Būdamas aukšto ūgio, žaidė krepšinį, tinklinį, golfą lietuvių ir australų komandose.

1956 R. Zenkevičius Geelonge subūrė nedidelį moterų chorą, kuris, pasipildęs vyrų balsais, vėliau tapo mišrusis. Pirmasis ryškesnis choro pasirodymas įvyko 1960 m. rugsėjo 8 d. Tautos šventės minėjimo proga per pamaldas bažnyčioje. Chorą buvo pradėjęs rengti 1962 Australijos lietuvių dainų šventei Adelaidėje, bet tų metų rudenį iš choro vadovo pareigų pasitraukė. Chorui vėl vadovavo 1966–1969 metais. Jį išmokė J. Naujalio „Jaunimo giesmę“, A. Vanagaičio „Laisvės varpą“, V. Paulausko „Miškų gėlę“, J. Gudavičiaus „Kur giria žaliuoja“, Č. Sasnausko „Kur bėga Šešupė“, J. Neimonto „Pasisėjau žalią rūtą" ir kt. Choras giedojo bažnyčiose šv. Kalėdų, šv. Velykų ir kitų švenčių progomis, dalyvaudavo įvairiuose tautiniuose renginiuose. 1967–1973 R. Zenkevičius vadovavo lietuvių vokaliniam sekstetui, su kuriuo pasirodydavo koncertuose, dalyvaudavo radijo laidose.
