Muzikos žanras

Muzikos žanras (dar vadinamas muzikos stiliumi) – tipas ar kategorija, kuriai pagal tam tikrus kriterijus priskiriamas muzikos kūrinys. Žanrai gali būti tiek ir itin plačios muzikos kategorijos, kaip kad populiarioji muzika, vokalinė muzika, religinė muzika, liaudiška muzika, sekuliari muzika ir t. t., tiek ir smulkesnis skaidymas į roką, hiphopą, bliuzą, džiazą ir t. t. Pastarieji gali būti skaidomi į subžanrus, kaip kad roko atveju į sunkųjį roką ar pankroką ir pan. Žanrai naudojami kataloguojant muzikos įrašus bibliotekose, aprašant muziką leidiniuose, pateikiant įrašus muzikos parduotuvėse, muzikos gerbėjams išreiškiant savo tapatybę ir pan.

Apibrėžimas

Paprastai sutariama, kad muzikos skirstymas į žanrus yra sudėtingas procesas, kuriam poveikį daro kultūrinė aplinka, istorinis kontekstas, muzikos industrija ir pan., todėl neįmanoma pateikti tikslaus kiekvieno muzikos žanro apibrėžimo ar tiksliai įvardyti kiekvieno muzikos kūrinio žanro.[1][2] Nepaisant to, išskiriami keli bruožai, į kuriuos dažniausiai atsižvelgiama darant atskirtį tarp žanrų bei subžanrų:[3]

  1. Muzikos stilistiniai elementai, kurie seka tam tikras kompozicijos, instrumentų naudojimo bei atlikimo taisykles, lemiančias išskirtinį skambesį.
  2. Su muzika nesusiję atributai: dainų tekstų tematika, sceninis įvaizdis, albumų viršelių stilistika, muzikos atlikėjų kilmė ir pan.
  3. Ryšys su klausytojais, gerbėjų bendruomene, tam tikra visuomenėje susiformavusia subkultūra.
  4. Padėtis muzikos industrijoje ar kitokioje institucinėje santvarkoje.
