Ifė (jor. Ilé-Ifẹ̀, angl. Ife) – Nigerijos miestas Osuno valstijos teritorijoje, 218 km į šiaurės rytus nuo Lagosas, žinomas kaip istorinė jorubų tautos valstybė Jorubalando (dabartinės Nigerijos pietvakarių dalis) centre. Mieste įsikūręs Obafemi Avolovo universitetas.

Transporto mazgas. Ifė garsėja tradiciniais bronzos, dramblio kaulo, terakotos, medžio dirbiniais. Kakavos pramonė. Apylinkėse kasamas auksas.[2]

Įkūrimo legenda

Ifė buvo seniausia ir svarbiausia Jorubalando valstybėlė, iš kurio kildinama visa jorubų tauta. Pasak mitų, čia Olodumare įsakymu nusileido dievas Obatala, kuris sukūrė visą žmoniją. Pirmiausia jis mostelėjo purvo gniutulu virš bekraščio vandenyno ir taip pasidarė žemė, kuri vadinosi Ifė. Tada jis pasodino centre palmės riešutą, iš kurios išaugo medis su 16 šakų, simbolizuojančių senąsias jorubų gimines.

Ankstyviausioji istorija

Archeologiniai kasinėjimai parodė, kad Ifės miestas buvo apgyvendintas jau V a. pr. m. e. Seniausias jo laikotarpis yra žinomas kaip „negrįstasis“, mat tuo metu Ifės keliai buvo negrįsti. Tikėtina, kad tuo metu Ifė daug prekiavo su Nok kultūros atstovais šiaurėje, iš kurios perėmė daug pasiekimų.

Nuo maždaug VIII a. miestas ėmė vystytis ypač sparčiai, ir tapo svarbiausiu meno ir kultūros centru visame Benino civilizacijos regione. Apie X a. ji tapo tikru miestu, jos keliai buvo išgrįsti, taigi, taip prasidėjo jos „grįstasis“ laikotarpis.

Ifės apogėjus

Apie XII a. Ifės menas pasiekė viršūnę. Buvo gaminamos ypač puikios bronzinės galvos, terakotos skulptūros, pasižyminčios aukšto lygio meniškumu ir realizmo tendencijomis, kurios gerokai aplenkė to meto Europą.

Kažkur laikotarpyje tarp XI ir XV a. Ifėje valdė legendinis valdovas Oduduva, pradėjęs valdovų dinastiją. Daug mokslininkų teigia, kad jis buvo ateivis iš tolimos šiaurės (musulmonai palaiko legendą, kad jis buvo kilęs iš Mekos). Oduduvos palikuonys (sūnūs arba anūkai) yra laikomi kitų svarbiausių Benino civilizacijos valstybių (Ojo, Benino, Ketu, Ovo, Ilos, Sabe, Popo) įkūrėjais. Iš ifės save kildina visos jorubų subgrupės, kurios apie XV a. migravo įvairiomis kryptimis.

Sumenkimas

Nuo XV a. Ifės meninė ir politinė jėga sumenko. Ją nustelbė Benino karalystė, Ovas, Idžebu. Tačiau valstybė visuomet išliko Benino civilizacijos religinis centras.
