Apaštalas Simonas Kananietis (hebr. ‏שמעון „klausytojas“‏‎ ; gr. Απόστολος Σίμων ο Κανανίτης m. apie 107 m.) – apaštalas, pasak Biblijos, vienas iš Jėzaus Kristaus mokinių.

Evangelijoje

Evangelijoje apie Apaštalą Simoną Kananietį labai mažai rašoma. Jis minimas apaštalų sąrašuose Evangelijoje pagal Matą (Mt. 10,4), Evangelijoje pagal Morkų (Mk. 3,18), Evangelijoje pagal Luką (Lk. 6,15), taip pat Apaštalų darbuose (Ap. 1,13). Jis vadinamas Simonu Zelotu arba Simonu Kananiečiu, taip atskiriant jį nuo Apaštalo Petro. Jokių kitų duomenų apie šį apaštalą Naujasis testamentas nepateikia.

Pravardė Kananietis, kuri kartais neteisingai suprantamas kaip „iš Kanos miesto“, kilo iš hebrajų kalbos žodžio qan’ana‘ – „uolusis“. Ši apaštalo pravardė galėjo reikšti jo priklausymą politiniam – religiniam zelotų judėjimui – nesutaikomiems kovotojams su romėnų valdymu.

Hagiografija

Apokrifiniuose šaltiniuose teigiama, jog apaštalas Simonas Kananietis pamokslavo Judėjoje, Egipte ir Libijoje. Po Jėzaus Kristaus kartu su Apaštalu Tadu Judu patraukęs pamokslauti Persijoje ir Babilone.

Legendose minimas Apaštalo Simono apsilankymas Britanijoje.

Pagal legendą apaštalas mirė kankinio mirtimi prie Juodosios jūros Kaukaze – buvo gyvas perpjautas pjūklu. Dėl to krikščioniškame mene vaizduojamas su pjūklu.

Palaidotas Nikopsijos mieste, kurio buvimo vieta kelia ginčus. Pagal oficialią teoriją, šitas miestas – dabartinis Naujasis Afonas Abchazijoje; pagal kitą, labiau tikėtiną, tai dabartinis Novomichailovsko kaimas Krasnojarsko srityje. Galiausiai (XIX a.) spėjamuose apaštalo žygdarbių vietose prie Apsarskos kalno buvo pastatytas Apaštalo Simono Kananiečio Novoafonsko vienuolynas. Ten ir šiandien rodoma ola, kurioje gyveno apaštalas.
