↑Former names for salted cod include cured cod,[3]ling,[3][4][5] and haberdine.[6][5] Freshly-salted cod was known as green cod, white cod, corefish,[3]coursfish,[2] and green fish or greenfish.[7] "Green cod" may also refer to the saithe (Pollachius virens), pollack (P. pollachius), or uncommonly to the lingcod (O. elongatus).[7] "Ling" now more often refers to other fish, particularly the common ling (Molva molva).[4]
