박물관

그랜드아일랜드(Grand Island)는 미국 중서부 네브래스카주에 있는 도시이다. 인구 42,940(2000). 네브래스카주 중남부, 미주리 강의 지류인 플랫 강 연안에 위치한다. 지명은 플랫 강에 떠 있는 섬을 처음에 프랑스 사람들이 '큰 섬'이라는 뜻의 라그랑드일(프랑스어: La Grande Isle)이라 부른 것에서 유래하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그 후 지명은 영어식의 지금의 것으로 바뀌었으며, 독일 출신 이주민들이 정착하면서 서부와 동부를 잇는 교통로의 요지로 발전하기 시작하였다. 네브래스카주 중앙부 농업 지대의 중심지로, 주변에는 옥수수, 사탕무 재배와 소 사육이 성하고, 시내에는 이들 농산물 관련 공업이 이루어진다. 미국 그레이트플레인스 지방의 개척역사를 보여주는 박물관이 있다.
