2020년 동남아시아 축구 연맹 선수권 대회(영어: 2020 AFF Championship) 또는 2020년 AFF 스즈키컵(2020 AFF Suzuki Cup)은 2021년 12월 5일부터 2022년 1월 1일까지 싱가포르에서 개최된 13번째 아세안 축구 선수권 대회로 원래는 2020년 11월 23일부터 12월 31일까지 열릴 예정이었으나[1] 코로나19 범유행의 여파로 인하여 1년 정도 연기되었다.[2] 다만 대회 명칭은 2020년 AFF 스즈키컵 그대로 사용하며 태국이 인도네시아를 결승 1·2차전 합계 6-2로 따돌리고 통산 6번째 우승을 차지했고 참고로 이 대회는 일본 자동차 기업인 스즈키가 메인 스폰서로 나선 마지막 대회이다.

개최국 선정

동남아시아에서 일어난 코로나19 범유행의 여파로 인하여 2020년 AFF 스즈키컵은 특정 국가에서 개최하는 방식으로 변경되었다. 싱가포르는 2021년 9월 28일에 2020년 AFF 스즈키컵 개최국으로 선정되었다.[3] 그 외에 캄보디아, 인도네시아, 태국, 베트남이 대회 유치 의사를 표명했다.[4][5][6][7]

대회 방식

본래 브루나이와 동티모르가 예선을 치를 예정이었지만 코로나19의 영향으로 브루나이 측에서 기권을 선언하며 동티모르가 2회 연속 AFF 스즈키컵 본선에 합류했다.[8][9]

동티모르를 포함해 본선에 참가하는 10개 팀들은 5개 팀씩 2개 조로 나뉘며 한 팀당 조별리그 4경기씩 치러 조별리그에서 1·2위를 차지한 팀만 4강에 진출하는 반면 각 조 3위부터 5위까지는 조별리그에서 탈락하게 된다.

그리고 4강전과 결승전은 전 대회와 마찬가지로 2경기씩 치러 1·2차전 결과 합산을 통해 결승 진출팀 및 우승팀을 결정짓는다.

참가 팀

다음 9개국이 본선에 직행했다. 태국, 인도네시아는 2021년 10월 7일에 세계 반도핑 기구(WADA)가 제시한 조건 미준수로 인하여 부과된 징계에 따라 대회 기간 동안에 국기를 사용하는 것이 금지되었다.[10][11][12]

다음 1개국이 예선을 통해 본선에 진출했다.

시드 배정

본선 조 추첨식은 본래 2021년 8월 10일에 열릴 예정이었으나[13] 코로나19의 영향과 관련된 싱가포르 정부의 제한 조치로 2021년 9월 21일로 연기되었다.[14] 1개월 연기된 조 추첨식은 예정대로 싱가포르에서 비대면 형식으로 진행되었다.[7][15]

2018년 AFF 스즈키컵 챔피언 베트남은 조 추첨식에서 포트 1에 배정되었고 준우승 팀인 말레이시아는 포트 2에 배정되었다.
