ხუნუს იმპერია.

ხუნუ (ჩინური: 匈奴,[1] ფინინი: Xiōngnú) — მომთაბარე ტომების გაერთიანება,[2] რომლებიც დომინირებდნენ აზიის მდელოზე ძვ. წ. III საუკუნიდან I საუკუნემდე. ჩინურ წყაროების მიხედვით მათ ძვ. წ. 209 წელს, მოდუ შანიუს ხელმძღვანელობით იმპერია შექმნეს. იმპერიამ იარსება დაახლოებით სამი საუკუნე (ძვ. წ. 209 — 93) და აღემატებოდა დღევანდელი მონღოლეთის საზღვრებს. ძვ. წ. II საუკუნეში იუეჩჟების დამარცხების შემდეგ ისინი ცენტრაური და სამხრეთი აზიის მდელოზე მთავარ ძალად იქცნენ. მათი გავლენის ქვეშ იყო მოქცეული: სამხრეთი ციმბირი, დღევანდელი მონღოლეთი, შიდა მონღოლეთი, განსუ, სინძიანი. მათ რთული ურთიერთობა ჰქონდათ სამხრეთით არსებულ ჩინურ დინასტიებთან, რომელიც ხშირად საომარ მოქმედებებშიც გადადიოდა.

ზოგიერთი მეცნიერი მათ ევრაზიულ ველზე დასავლეთით მაცხოვრებელ ხალხებთან აიგივებს. ხუნუს ჯგუფის ეთნიკურ კუთვნილების დადგენას ართულებს ჩინურ წყაროებში შემორჩენილი სიტყვების მცირე რაოდენობა, რომლებიც ძირითადად ადგილების ან ადამიანების სახელებს წარმოადგენენ. მეცნიერები დასაშვებად მიიჩნევენ მათ: ირანულ,[3][4][5][6] მონღოლურ,[7] ტოხარულ, თურქულ,[8] ურალურ,[9][10] ენისეიურ[11][12] ან შერეულ ეთნიკურ წარმომავლობას.[13] სიტყვა ხუნუ შეიძლება წარმოადგენდეს ჰუნის მონათესავე სიტყვას.[12][14]
