არესი (ძვ. ბერძნ. Ἄρης) — ძველ ბერძნულ მითოლოგიაში ომის მრისხანე ღმერთი, ზევსისა და ჰერას ძე. უპირისპირდება ქალღმერთ ათენას, სამართლიანი ომის მფარველს. თავდაპირველად (ჰომეროსის ხანამდე) არესი ქთონური ბუნების (ქვესკნელის) ღვთაება იყო, როგორც კეთილდღეობის, ისე სიკვდილის მომტანი, შემდგომში კი — მხოლოდ სიკვდილისა და უბედურებისა. არესი აფროდიტეს მეგობარი და მიჯნურია, რომელთანაც რამდენიმე შვილი ჰყავდა: ჰარმონია, ეროსი და სხვები. არესის კულტი ძველ საბერძნეთში არ იყო გავრცელებული, მისი ერთადერთი ტაძარი აგებული იყო თებეში. რომაულ პანთეონში კი ერთ-ერთი მთავარი ღვთაება — მარსი შეესაბამება. ჰომეროსთან და ანტიკურ სახვით ხელოვნებაში არესი წარმოდგენილია ფარ-შუბით აღჭურვილ ახალგაზრდა, ძლიერ და პირქუშ მამაკაცად.
