Trah

Trah ya iku sistem krabatan utawa bebrayatan ana ing budaya Jawa[1]. Tembung “trah” iki ora ditemokna ing basa Jawa Kuna, miturut Juynnboll (1923)[2]. Tembung iki ing cara fonètis padha karo “truh” kang tegesé “udan”. Miturut Soewito Santoso, tembung trah iki mungkin turunan sing truh, amarga teges pokok rong tembung iku kaya sawiji saka dhuwur marang isor kaya déné banyu udan. Asal mula sistem trah ing bebrayan sosial wong Jawa iku diwiwiti saka kumpulan wong turunan sing raja-raja Jawa. Dhèwéké ngehubungké awaké dèwé nganggo cara hubungan gènéalogis lan konstruksi wit keluwarga (family tree)[2]. Sabanjuré, sistem trah ditiru karo wong-wong saka lapisan sosial Jawa.
