音楽の歴史と現在（おんがくのれきしとげんざい、ドイツ語: Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart、略称 MGG）は、ドイツ語で書かれた、最大級で最も包括的な音楽に関する百科事典である。西洋の音楽に関する文献として、その分量と網羅する範囲において「ニューグローヴ世界音楽大事典」と双璧を成す存在である。ベーレンライター社とメツラー社（Metzler）から出版されている。

初版は全17巻（1949年 - 1968年）、補遺の巻（1973年 - 1986年）、1冊の索引からなっていた。現行の版は第2版（1994年 - 2007年）で、物事の百科事典が全10巻（索引を含む）、伝記事典が全17巻と索引の巻である。物事と人物について記した追加の補遺の巻が2008年に出版された。第2版のCD-Rom版は、主にドイツの少数の図書館で入手できる。
