カノッサ家の紋章

カノッサ家（Canossa）もしくはアットー家（Attodici）は、カノッサを本拠地とし、11世紀から12世紀にかけてトスカーナ辺境伯となったイタリア貴族の家系。

ランゴバルド系とみられるシジェフレードは、920年 - 930年頃にルッカ伯領から一家でレッジョに移住した。このシジェフレードの次男アダルベルト・アットー（988年2月13日没）がカノッサ家の始祖である。アダルベルト・アットーは、ベレンガーリオ2世から逃れてきた前イタリア王妃アーデルハイトをかくまった事から、後にアーデルハイトと結婚した皇帝オットー1世によりレッジョ、モデナおよびマントヴァの伯に任ぜられたという。

1024年にローマ王となったコンラート2世はイタリア王位をアキテーヌ公ギヨーム5世と争っていたが、アダルベルト・アットーの孫ボニファーチョはコンラート2世を支援し、1027年にトスカーナ辺境伯位を与えられた。ボニファーチョの娘マティルデ女伯は、1077年、自らの居城であったカノッサ城に教皇グレゴリウス7世を保護し、「カノッサの屈辱」が起こった。マティルデは継承者なく1115年に死去し、カノッサ家は断絶した。
