ウォーカー郡（英: Walker County）は、アメリカ合衆国アラバマ州の中央部北西に位置する郡である[1]。2010年国勢調査での人口は67,023人であり、2000年の70,713人から5.2%減少した[2]。郡庁所在地はジャスパー市（人口14,352人[3]）であり、同郡で人口最大の都市でもある。郡名はアメリカ合衆国上院議員を務めたジョン・ウィリアムズ・ウォーカーに因んで名付けられた。

歴史

ウォーカー郡は1823年12月26日に、マリオン郡とタスカルーサ郡の一部を合わせて設立された[1]。郡名は1819年から1822年までアラバマ州選出アメリカ合衆国上院議員を務めたジョン・ウィリアムズ・ウォーカーに因んで名付けられた[1]。ジャスパー市が郡庁所在地であり、サウスカロライナ州出身で、レッドスティック戦争の英雄になったウィリアム・ジャスパーに因んで名付けられた[1]。

郡内のアメリカ合衆国国家歴史登録財には、バンクヘッド邸、ボシェルの製粉場、第一ユナイテッド・メソジスト教会、ジルクリスト邸、ジャスパー市中心街歴史地区、スティーブンソン邸、ウォーカー郡病院がある[4]。

アメリカ合衆国国勢調査局に拠れば、郡域全面積は805.30平方マイル (2,085.7 km2)であり、このうち陸地794.39平方マイル (2,057.5 km2)、水域は10.91平方マイル (28.3 km2)で水域率は1.35%である[5]。
