Carriera universitaria
Al college Fitzgerald giocò a football a Florida State dal 2019 al 2024. Nell'ultima stagione fu premiato come All-American e fu finalista del Lou Groza Award, dopo avere segnato 13 field goal su altrettanti tentativi, inclusi 5 da oltre 50 yard. Chiuse la carriera con i Seminoles al quinto posto della storia dell'istituto con 352 punti segnati.
Carriera professionistica
Carolina Panthers
Dopo non essere stato scelto nel Draft NFL 2025, l'8 maggio Fitzgerald firmò con i Carolina Panthers.[1] Il 25 agosto fu nominato kicker titolare, battendo la concorrenza di Matthew Wright.[2] Nel terzo turno segnò da un nuovo primato personale di 57 yard contro gli Atlanta Falcons. Nel sesto fu premiato come miglior giocatore degli special team della NFC della settimana dopo avere segnato tre field goal su tre, incluso uno da 55 yard e quello della vittoria da 33 yard contro i Dallas Cowboys.[3]
