Robert Lindsay Stevenson (Ilkeston, 13 dicembre 1949) è un attore inglese, noto soprattutto in teatro.

Biografia

Ha lavorato a lungo con la Royal Shakespeare Company, ma ha recitato con successo anche in diversi musical a Londra e Broadway, tra cui Me and My Girl (Londra, 1985; Broadway 1986; Laurence Olivier Award al miglior attore in un musical, Tony Award al miglior attore protagonista in un musical Drama Desk Award), Oliver! (1997; Laurence Olivier Award al miglior attore in un musical) e Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Nel 1996 ha recitato nel dramma Becket a Londra con Derek Jacobi, e per la sua interpretazione è stato candidato al suo terzo Laurence Olivier Award[1]. Attivo anche in campo televisivo, nel 1992 ha vinto il British Academy Television Award per il miglior attore per la serie TV G.B.H.

È stato sposato dal 1974 al 1980 con l'attrice Cheryl Hall, lasciata per l'attrice Diana Weston, da cui ha avuto una figlia, Sydney (1988); la relazione durò 15 anni, interrotta dall'attore per legarsi alla ballerina Rosemarie Ford, che ha poi sposato il giorno di Capodanno del 2006, dopo un lungo fidanzamento. Hanno avuto due figli: Samuel (1999) e James (2003).
