NXT North American Championship

L'NXT North American Championship è un titolo di wrestling di proprietà della WWE ed esclusivo del roster di NXT, ed è detenuto da Tony D'Angelo dall'8 ottobre 2024.[1]

Storia

Nella puntata di NXT del 7 marzo 2018 il general manager William Regal annunciò la creazione dell'NXT North American Championship. Il titolo venne assegnato il 7 aprile 2018 a NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in un six-man ladder match che vide Adam Cole trionfare su EC3, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, Ricochet e Velveteen Dream. Il titolo venne difeso per la prima volta nella puntata di NXT del 25 aprile 2018 quando Cole sconfisse Oney Lorcan.

L'8 luglio 2020, nella seconda serata della puntata speciale NXT The Great American Bash, Keith Lee conquistò l'NXT Championship sconfiggendo Adam Cole in un winner takes all match in cui era in palio anche l'NXT North American Championship di Lee, diventando il primo wrestler a detenere entrambi i titoli contemporaneamente.

Il 4 gennaio 2022, nella puntata speciale NXT New Year's Evil, Carmelo Hayes sconfisse Roderick Strong unificando l'NXT Cruiserweight Championship appena vinto con l'NXT North American Championship che già deteneva, ritirando la cintura dei pesi leggeri.[2]

Cintura

Il design della cintura è stato rivelato da Triple H il 3 aprile 2018: essa è di cuoio bordeaux di forma lineare con due placche quadrate dorate ai lati con in verticale il logo di NXT in verticale. La placca centrale, sempre dorata, è di forma circolare e all'interno è rappresentato un planisfero inquadrante l'intero continente americano in argento su sfondo nero, mentre in alto è presente il logo di NXT e sotto di esso la scritta "North American Champion". Ad entrambi i lati della cintura, inoltre, è presente una placca pentagonale con all'interno un'altra circolare personalizzabile per ogni atleta.
