NGC 3617 è una galassia ellittica situata nella costellazione dell'Idra, a una distanza di circa 121 milioni di anni luce dalla nostra Via Lattea.[1][2]
Scoperta
La galassia è stata scoperta il 22 marzo 1836 dall'astronomo britannico John Herschel.[1]
