Kat Von D

Kat Von D, pseudonimo di Katherine von Drachenberg[1] (Montemorelos, 8 marzo 1982), è un personaggio televisivo, modella e tatuatrice statunitense.

Acquista una grossa fetta di popolarità con il reality show LA Ink, in onda in America su TLC e in Italia su DMAX.

Biografia

Kat Von D

Von D nasce a Montemorelos, nello stato del Nuevo León (in Messico), l'8 marzo del 1982 da genitori argentini, ambedue missionari della Chiesa cristiana avventista del settimo giorno[2]. Suo padre, René von Drachenberg, è di origini tedesche, mentre sua madre, Silvia Galeano, è di origini spagnole ed italiane[1]. Ha una sorella, Karoline, ed un fratello, Michael[3]. All'età di quattro anni, la famiglia si trasferisce negli Stati Uniti, stabilendosi a Colton (in California), dove cresce e frequenta le scuole.

Kat è stata sposata, dal 2003 al 2007, con Oliver Peck, un famoso tatuatore. Dopo il loro divorzio lui ha battuto il record di Kat cioè ha tatuato il maggior numero di persone in 24 ore.

Nel 2008, Von D ha creato e lanciato una nuova linea di trucchi per Sephora. Nel 2010 ha aperto, vicino al suo negozio di tatuaggi l'High Voltage Tattoo, una galleria d'arte. Attualmente è in studio con Danny Lohner che curerà la produzione del suo primo album.

È stata fidanzata con il disc jockey e produttore deadmau5 per sei mesi tra il 2012 e il 2013.

È vegana e promotrice d'una linea di cosmetici cruelty-free[4]. Nel 2016, l'organizzazione per i diritti degli animali Farm Sanctuary l'insignisce del Compassion in Action Award[5]. Il 21 febbraio 2018 sposa Leafar Seyer conosciuto anche come Rafael Reyes, uno dei componenti dei Prayes. A dicembre del 2018 nasce il loro primo figlio: Leafar Von D Reyes.

Nel luglio 2022 Von D annuncia su Instagram la sua rinuncia alla stregoneria e all'occulto[6]; nell'ottobre 2023 pubblica un reel video del suo battesimo. [7]

Kat Von D entra a far parte del reality show Miami Ink, sostituendo il tatuatore Darren Brass impossibilitato a tatuare per via di un gomito rotto. Kat rimarrà nello show per le prime quattro stagioni. A causa di vari litigi con il proprietario del negozio Ami James, viene invitata ad abbandonare definitivamente lo show.

Dopo aver lasciato Miami Ink, la rete televisiva americana TLC (già produttrice di Miami Ink) le propone un programma tutto suo sempre dedicato ai tatuaggi. Il nuovo reality show sarà a Hollywood (Los Angeles) in California e si chiamerà LA Ink. La TLC il 18 agosto 2011 ha annunciato la cancellazione del programma; LA Ink durerà quattro stagioni, terminando il 15 settembre 2011. Kat tramite Twitter ha annunciato che la decisione di cancellazione del programma è stata sua.
