John Brack nel 1971

John Brack (Melbourne, 10 maggio 1920 – Melbourne, 11 febbraio 1999) è stato un pittore australiano membro degli Antipodeans[1].

Stile e tecnica

Secondo un critico, le prime opere di Brack catturano le idiosincrasie del loro tempo «in modo più potente e conciso di qualsiasi altro artista australiano prima o dopo di lui. Brack ha forgiato l'iconografia di un decennio su tela con la stessa serietà con cui Barry Humphries l'ha fatto sul palco».[2] Secondo l'Art Gallery of New South Wales, lo stile di Brack è «altamente cerebrale, unico tanto nel contesto della figurazione espressiva di contemporanei di Melbourne come Arthur Boyd e Albert Tucker, quanto della rapida crescita dell'astrazione del suo tempo.»[1]
