WNBC

To avoid channel interference with (WIVB-TV, also on channel 4).

To avoid channel interference with other stations on channel 4, like KRON-TV in San Francisco, KNBC in Los Angeles, KRNV in Northern Nevada, to protect KTVX as ABC, to avoid interference with KFQX and KCNC-TV.

WNBC was still on the same channel number as KMOV, a CBS station licensed to St. Louis.

To do so, WNBC uses a similar antenna system on channel 4.1, to broadcast the station, and to avoid interference with WIVB-TV, a CBS affiliate on channel 4, and both stations are identical on the same frequency.

Slogan WNBC ialah "We're 4 New York" or News 4 New York, used from 1980 to 1990
