Kompetisi tari kejang di Olimpiade Musim Panas 2024 dijadwalkan berlangsung dari 9 hingga 10 Agustus di Place de la Concorde, menandai debut resmi olahraga ini dalam program Olimpiade dan menjadi disiplin olahraga tari pertama yang muncul dalam sejarah Olimpiade Musim Panas.[1][2] Setelah debut suksesnya di Olimpiade Remaja Musim Panas 2018 di Buenos Aires, tari kejang dikonfirmasi sebagai salah satu dari tiga olahraga tambahan, bersama dengan panjat tebing dan selancar, yang disetujui untuk Paris 2024.[3][4] Kompetisi ini akan melibatkan total tiga puluh dua penari kejang (enam belas B-Boys dan enam belas B-Girls) yang akan berhadapan langsung dalam pertempuran satu lawan satu. [5]

Kualifikasi

Sebanyak 32 tempat kuota (enam belas untuk setiap jenis kelamin) tersedia bagi para penari yang memenuhi syarat untuk bersaing memperebutkan medali perdana dalam kompetisi breakdancing. Komite Olimpiade Nasional (NOC) dapat mengirimkan maksimal empat breaker (dua per jenis kelamin) untuk bersaing di dua acara medali. [6][7]

Lebih dari delapan puluh persen dari total kuota dialokasikan untuk sejumlah besar breaker melalui jalur kualifikasi tripartit. Pertama, Kejuaraan Dunia WDSF 2023, yang dijadwalkan berlangsung dari 23 hingga 24 September di Leuven, Belgia, akan memberikan tempat kuota langsung ke Paris 2024 bagi juara B-Boy dan B-Girl. Kedua, lima tempat akan dialokasikan untuk breaker peringkat tertinggi yang memenuhi syarat (satu B-Boy dan satu B-Girl) yang bersaing di setiap kompetisi kontinental yang ditentukan (Afrika, Amerika, Asia, Eropa, dan Oseania), dengan tetap memperhatikan batasan dua anggota per NOC. Sisa breaker akan memiliki kesempatan terakhir untuk mendapatkan tempat mereka di Paris 2024 melalui Seri Kualifikasi Olimpiade yang berlangsung selama empat bulan, antara Maret dan Juni 2024 di berbagai lokasi di seluruh dunia. Negara tuan rumah, Prancis, memiliki jatah masing-masing satu tempat untuk seorang B-Boy dan seorang B-Girl dalam acara breakdancing mereka. Sementara itu, empat tempat lagi (dua per gender) akan diberikan kepada NOC yang memenuhi syarat dan berminat agar breaker mereka berkompetisi di Paris 2024 melalui undangan Universalitas. Untuk terdaftar mendapatkan tempat sesuai dengan kriteria prinsip universalitas, breaker harus finis dalam posisi 32 besar dalam peringkat akhir dari Seri Kualifikasi Olimpiade yang berlangsung selama empat bulan.
