Swiss akan berpartisipasi di Kontes Lagu Eurovision 2012 yang rencananya diselenggarakan di Baku, Azerbaijan.[1] Seleksi nasional mereka diadakan tanggal 10 Desember 2011. Pemenangnya ditentukan melalui pemungutan suara elektronik.[2]

Proses seleksi

Tanggal 22 Juli 2011, SF mengumumkan bahwa seleksi nasional akan diadakan di Bodensee Arena di Kreuzlingen, dengan 14 peserta.[3] 6 lagu dipilih dari pemilihan suara daring yang diadakan oleh stasiun televisi berbahasa Jerman SF, 3 dari stasiun radio DRS 3, 3 dari stasiun penyiaran berbahasa Prancis RTS, dan 2 dari stasiun penyiaran berbahasa Italia RSI. Uniknya, para peserta akan menyanyikan versi ringkas dari lagu mereka sepanjang 2 menit, walaupun dalam peraturan yang ditentukan oleh SF, lagu yang didaftarkan paling tidak durasinya 2:55-3:00 menit.[4]

Seleksi SF

Seleksi ini memilih 6 finalis. Peserta dapat mengunggah lagunya di situs resmi SF, http://www.eurovisionplattform.sf.tv/videos Diarsipkan 2011-08-12 di Wayback Machine. dari tanggal 1–30 September 2011. 221 lagu lolos untuk seleksi online.[5] Pemenang kontes Eurovision yang pertama Lys Assia, perwakilan Denmark di Eurovision 2007, DQ (sebagai Peter Andersen), Finalis German Idol Zazou Mall dan penyanyi Amerika Ultra Naté mendaftarkan lagu mereka ke seleksi ini, demikian juga dengan pemenang pertama Idols dari Afrika Selatan, Heinz Winckler dan mantan peserta X Factor dari Britania Raya Same Difference dan Maria Lawson.[6] Finalis ditentukan dari pemungutan suara online dan penilaian juri, bobotnya 50/50.[7] Tanggal 10 November, melalui Twitter diumumkan Lys Assia terpilih menjadi salah satu finalis.[8] Daftar lengkap finalis diumumkan satu hari setelahnya.[9]

Seleksi DRS 3

DRS 3 memilih perwakilan mereka secara internal. Tanggal 13 Oktober, DRS 3 mengumumkan 3 lagu yang mereka pilih sebagai finalis. Belakangan, Sara McLoud dan lagunya "Lost" didiskualifikasi karena versi akustiknya telah dirilis tahun 2009. Dia digantikan oleh Atomic Angels dengan lagu "Black Symphony".[10]

Seleksi RSI

RSI memilih 2 finalis. Peserta dapat mengirimkan lagunya ke RSI.[9] Tahap pertama, 22 lagu dipilih RSI untuk mengikuti seleksi online. 5 di antaranya kemudian dipilih oleh juri untuk langsung mengikuti tahap kedua. 2 lagu yang mendapatkan suara terbanyak di seleksi online akan lolos ke tahap kedua. Tahap kedua, yang terdiri dari 7 peserta disiarkan secara langsung tanggal 8 November 2011 melalui televisi RSI La 2 dan radio Rete Tre.[11] Sinplus dan Chiara Dubey memenangkan seleksi ini.[12]

Seleksi RTS

RTS menyeleksi 3 finalis. Peserta dapat mendaftar sampai 30 September 2011. 27 lagu dikirimkan ke RTS.[13] Kemudian juri menurunkan jumlah tersebut menjadi 10. Kemudian 10 lagu tersebut ditayangkan di saluran radio dan televisi RTS tanggal 20-30 October 2011. Tiga finalis dipilih dari kombinasi 50/50 antara pemilihan online dan pilihan juri dan diumumkan tanggal 3 November 2011.[7] Peserta yang lolos ke babak final antara lain Katherine St-Laurent, Sosofluo dan Ze Flying Zézettes Orchestra.[14]

Final Nasional

Final nasional diadakan tanggal 10 Desember 2011 di Bodensee Arena di Kreuzlingen, dan dipandu oleh Sven Epiney. 14 peserta menyanyikan versi 2 menit dari lagu mereka.[4] Kemudian mereka dikomentari oleh "juri ahli", terdiri dari Nik Hartmann, Carlos Leal and Stämpf.[15] Pemenangnya ditentukan melalui 100% PSE.[16][17]
