Serie A musim 1948–1949 dimenangkan oleh Torino. Mereka ditetapkan sebagai juara pada tanggal 6 Mei 1949, setelah Tragedi Superga yang menewaskan seluruh skuad mereka pada tanggal 4 Mei. Saat itu, Torino tengah memimpin klasemen dengan selisih empat poin dengan empat pertandingan tersisa. Dalam pertandingan yang tersisa, Torino dan para lawan memutuskan untuk menurunkan tim cadangan mereka.
