Samuel Friedrich Christian Hahneman adalah seorang dokter Jerman yang telah berjasa sebagai peletak dasar homeopati (sistem pengobatan yang melibatkan terapi individu dengan zat yang sangat diencerkan, diberikan terutama dalam bentuk tablet, dengan tujuan memicu sistem alami tubuh untuk penyembuhan).[1][2] Dia lahir pada tangga 10 April 1755 di Meissen, Jerman dan meninggal saat 2 Juli tahun 1843 di Paris, Prancis.[1] Pada tahun 1795 mengemukakan asas kebersamaan (bahasa Latin: similia similibus curentur).[1] Lalu pada tahun selanjutnya, 1810, karya pertamanya terbit dengan judul Organon der rationellen Heilkunde. Kemudian terbitan ke-2nya berjudul Organon der Heilkunsi yang dicetak tahun 1819.[1]

Hahnemann belajar mengenai obat di University of Leipzig dan Vienna dan melanjutkan studinya untuk mendapatkan gelar M.D. di Erlangen tahun 1779.[3] Setelah mempraktikan kemampuannya di banyak tempat, dia menetap di Dresden pada tahun 1784 lalu saat 1789 pindah ke Leipzig.[2] Pada tahun selanjutnya,dia menerjemahkan karya William Cullen di Materia medica ke dalam bahasa Jerman.[2]
