Bila anda melintasi Jalan Raya Bogor - Cibinong tepatnya di jalan raya pomad berseberangan dengan tanah baru atau yang biasa dikenal dengan pabrik tapioka. hanya dengan jarak + 100 meter dari per-empatan pomad, SMP Negeri 15 Kota Bogor bisa anda tempuh.

Tanah lapang seluas 1 ha lebih itu semula merupakan kebun karet. Sama seperti lahan di kanan kirinya. Wilayah Kedunghalang memang terkenal dengan daerah penghasil karet hingga wilayah Cijayanti, Cikeas. Tanaman pohon karet masih bisa dijumpai sekitar tahun '90-an sebelum munculnya perumahan yang tak menyisakan sedikitpun tanaman tersebut. Begitu pula tempat pengolahan karet yang terletak di Dharmais. Kemudian seorang tuan tanah keturunan Tionghoa yang makamnya masih bisa di lihat di dekat kantor pos di jl.Pomad Ciparigi, menghibahkan sebagian tanahnya untuk digunakan sebagai gedung sekolah dengan nama SMP Negeri 4 Filial Kedunghalang Bogor yang pada perkembangan selanjutnya berganti nama menjadi SMP Negeri 1 Kedunghalang kabupaten Bogor. Bangunan gedungnya hanya empat kelas yg sangat sederhana karena terbuat dari bilik bambu. Mengingat bahwa kondisi pada tahun itu yakni 1968 memang memprihatinkan. Namun berkat kegigihan alm. Bp. Maman Suparman, alm. Bp. RM. Umar dan lainnya maka SMPN 4 filial kedung halang mengalami perubahan yang sangat berarti. Saking luasnya menyebabkan masyarakat sekitar sekolah sering menggunakannya sebagai tempat berbagai macam ajang kegiatan seperti misalnya pemutaran film layar tancap atau bermain sepak bola. Karena hanya ada satu sekolah negeri di tempat itu maka oleh pak Umar diambil inisiatif untuk mendirikan sekolah baru dengan nama SMP SEJAHTERA 1 yang satu atap dengan SMPN 1 Kedunghalang. Hal ini dimaksudkan untuk menampung keinginan belajar masyarakat yang tidak tertampung di sekolah negeri. Selang beberapa tahun kemudian SMP SEJAHTERA 1 memiliki tambahan gedung sendiri yang berlokasi di Jl. Dharmais maka untuk seterusnya SMP Sejahtera tak lagi menyatu dengan SMPN1 Kedunghalang Bogor.

Pada tahun 1997 sesuai dengan Surat Keputusan nomor: 2990/I02.Kep/Kp.1b.1997 tanggal 01-01-1998 SMP Negeri 1 Kedunghalang Bogor berubah menjadi SMP Negeri 15 Bogor hingga saat ini.

Tampuk kepemimpinan pun berganti. Pak Maman Suparman digantikan oleh kepala sekolah baru ibu Hj. Margeni. Secara estafet berlanjut ke

Dari tahun ke tahun SMP Negeri 15 Kota Bogor banyak mengalami perubahan, baik dari Struktur kepengurusan staff pengajar, struktur bangunan dan lainnya.[1]
