SMA Negeri 1 Grabag merupakan sekolah negeri yang berkedudukan di Kabupaten Magelang, Jawa Tengah. Lokasinya berada di Desa Grabag, Kecamatan Grabag, ± 22 km dari Kota Magelang dan ± 35 km dari Kota Mungkid. Sekolah dengan nuansa pedesaan, ini terletak di ketinggian ± 1200 m dpl dengan hawa sejuk, menjadikan SMA Negeri 1 Grabag sangat cocok untuk kegiatan belajar mengajar.

Latar belakang

SMA Negeri 1 Grabag Magelang

SMA Negeri 1 Grabag diresmikan pada tanggal 2 Juni 1981 dengan nama Sekolah Menengah Umum Tingkat Atas (SMA) Grabag oleh Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Dr. Daoed Joesoef. Pada awal berdirinya, SMA Negeri Grabag menumpang di SMP Negeri 1 Grabag. Baru pada tanggal 20 Juli 1981, SMA Negeri Grabag menempati bangunan baru di dusun Susukan, Desa Grabag, Kecamatan Grabag, Kabupaten Magelang. Dengan berdirinya SMA Negeri 2 Grabag di Desa Kalikuto, Kecamatan Grabag sekitar tahun 1997, maka SMA Negeri Grabag berubah nama menjadi SMA Negeri 1 Grabag.

Penghargaan internasional

Pada tahun 2019, dua orang siswa SMAN 1 Grabag Kabupaten Magelang meraih medali emas dalam Olimpiade Biologi di Hongkong. Prestasi yang diraih ini merupakan kali pertama untuk lomba di kancah internasional. Siswa yang meraih medali emas tersebut adalah Muhammad Usman Muqoffa (18) dan Muhammad Farkhan Suha (18), masing-masing duduk di kelas XI-IPA.3 SMAN 1 Grabag, Kabupaten Magelang. Penelitian yang dilakukan keduanya berjudul Nabe atau Nasi Beton (Analog Rice From Jackfruit Seed).[1]
