Polygon adalah sebuah situs web permainan video asal Amerika Serikat yang memberikan informasi berupa ulasan, blog, hiburan, panduan, video dan berita mengenai permainan video. Situs web ini didirikan pada 24 Oktober 2012 yang sebelumnya dikenal sebagai bagian dari properti ketiga perusahaan media digital Vox Media, dan sekarang aktif di domainnya sendiri. Alih-alih membahas permainan videonya, Polygon lebih cenderung mengulas kisah orang-orang yang melatarbelakangi pembuatan permainan video itu sendiri.[1] Situs web ini dirancang dan dibangun selama sepuluh bulan oleh 16 staf awal mereka serta melibatkan kerjasama dengan pemimpin redaksi situs permainan video Joystiq, Kotaku, dan The Escapist.[2]

Pada Juni 2014, Polygon menempati menempati posisi keempat diantara situs permainan video di bawah IGN, GameSpot, dan Kotaku berdasarkan data lalu lintas pada laman web Comscore.[3]

Konten dan desain

Perhatian Polygon terhadap produksi video semakin meluas pada akhir 2013, yang kemudian menurun kembali pada pertengahan 2014 karena keluarnya staf video dan keputusan editorial untuk menjalankan lebih sedikit corak artikel.[3] Pada tahun 2015, Polygon mulai merambah ke cakupan budaya pop seperti kompetitornya, IGN dan Kotaku.[4] Pada tahun 2015 Podcast Minimap Polygon dinobatkan sebagai salah satu yang terbaik di iTunes.[5]

Podcast unggulan Polygon, yang dilabeli nama The Polygon Show, diluncurkan pada 2017 yang memuat informasi mengenai budaya dan permainan video.[6] Pada 2018 podcast tersebut dinobatkan sebagai Itu dinobatkan sebagai "10 gaming podcasts every gaming nerd should know" oleh The Daily Dot.[7]

Polygon memadukan warna merah muda sebagai dominasi warna dasar situs webnya,[8] serta menampilkan tata letak artikel seperti pada majalah pendahulunya The verge.[9] Desainnya dibuat menggunakan desain web responsif (RWD) HTML5 agar dapat diakses lewat perangkat manapun dan agar sesuai dengan layar laptop, tablet, maupun ponsel.[2]
