Penangguhan rasa tak percaya

Penangguhan rasa tak percaya (bahasa Inggris: suspension of disbelief) adalah fenomena mempercayai peristiwa yang luar biasa dan aneh, menerimanya begitu saja dengan menangguhkan pemikiran kritis atau logika, yang umumnya terjadi saat menikmati sebuah karya fiksi..[1] Istilah bahasa Inggris suspension of disbelief awalnya diperkenalkan oleh penyair dan filsuf estetika Samuel Taylor Coleridge pada 1817.[2] Contoh penangguhan rasa tak percaya adalah dalam film Back to the Future, pemikiran logis penonton mungkin meragukan bahwa perjalanan melintasi waktu maupun unsur-unsur lain dalam film tersebut dapat terjadi di dunia nyata, tetapi keraguan atau rasa tak percaya ini ditangguhkan agar penonton dapat menikmati karya fiksi tersebut.[3]
