Nez Perce (/ˌnɛzˈpɜːrs, ˌnɛs-/; otonim dalam bahasa Nez Perce: nimíipuu, yang berarti "kami, masyarakat")[2] adalah sebuah kelompok penduduk asli Dataran Tinggi yang masih hidup dalam fraksi di wilayah-wilayah Dataran Tinggi Sungai Columbia bagian tenggara, Pacific Northwest. Wilayah tersebut telah dihuni untuk setidaknya 11.500 tahun.[3]

Anggota dari kelompok bahasa Sahaptin,[4] orang Nimíipuu merupakan masyarakat dominan di Dataran Tinggi Columbia untuk sebagian besar masa itu,[5] khususnya setelah mereka memiliki kuda-kuda yang membawa mereka untuk membiakkan kuda Appaloosa pada abad ke-18.

Sebelum kontak pertama dengan kolonial Eropa orang Nimiipuu berpengaruh secara ekonomi dan budaya dalam perdagangan dan peperangan, berinteraksi dengan suku pribumi lainnya dalam jangkauan yang luas dari pesisir barat Oregon dan Washington, dataran tinggi Montana, hingga Cekungan Besar di Idaho selatan dan Nevada utara.[6][7]

Penjelajah dan penjebak dari Prancis menggunakan dan mempopulerkan nama "Nez Percé" untuk orang nimíipuu dan tetangganya Chinook. Nama ini diterjemahkan sebagai "hidung yang ditindik", tetapi hanya suku Chinook yang menggunakan jenis modifikasi tubuh tersebut.[8]
