Lambang Barbados adalah lambang nasional negara Barbados yang diadopsi pada 14 Februari 1966, berdasarkan surat perintah kerajaan Ratu Elizabeth II. Lambang Barbados dipersembahkan oleh Ratu kepada Presiden Senat Barbados saat itu, Sir Gray Massiah. Seperti negara milik Inggris lainnya di Karibia, lambang ini memiliki helm dengan lambang nasional di atasnya, dan perisai di bawahnya yang ditopang oleh dua binatang.

Komponen dan arti

Lambang Barbados terdiri dari helm dengan simbol nasional di atasnya, dan perisai di bawahnya ditopang oleh dua binatang. Simbol nasional berupa tangan seorang Barbadian yang memegang dua batang tebu yang menyilang menyerupai salib St. Andrew. Simbol ini melambangkan industri gula di Barbados serta waktu perayaan kemerdekaan negara yang bertepatan dengan Hari St, Andrew.^[1] Terdapat juga perisai emas yang didalamnya terdapat pohon ara dan dua bunga kebanggaan Barbados. Perisai ditopang oleh seekor ikan dolphin dan seekor burung pelikan. Ikan melambangkan industri perikanan negara serta burung pelikan melambangkan Pulau Pelikan. Di bagian bawah terdapat spanduk berisi semboyan nasional Barbados ("Pride and Industry").^[2]

Sejarah

Lambang Barbados dirancang oleh Sir Neville Connell selama hampir 24 tahun dan diadopsi pada tahun 1966 berdasarkan keputusan Ratu Elizabeth.^[3] Neville Connell adalah seorang penulis yang produktif dan menyumbangkan banyak artikel untuk Jurnal Museum, surat kabar lokal, serta publikasi luar negeri.^[4]
