Kastel Almodóvar del Río

Castillo de Almodovar (Castillo Al-Mudawar) adalah sebuah bangunan bersejarah yang terletak di Kota Almodovar del Rio (Al Mudawar Al-Adna), sekitar 22 km dari Provinsi Cordoba, Spanyol. Kastel ini tercatat sebagai bukti kejayaan Islam di Spanyol. Di dalamnya, arsitektur bernuansasa islami masih terasa meski sudah diambil alih oleh kerajaan kristiani dan dijadikan kediaman bagi Raja Pedro I "El Cruel". Kastil yang terletak diatas bukit kota Almodovar ini memiliki peran penting di masa lampau. Lokasinya yang strategis, berada diatas sekitar 252 m di atas sungai Guadalquivir, membuatnya bisa memantau hingga Cordoba dan lalu lintas di sungai Guadalquivir yang saat itu bisa diakses oeh kapal-kapal kecil.[1]

Didirikan pada abad ke 8, kastel ini sebelumnya dikuasai oleh pangeran Abdul Malik bin Qatan pada 756 M, kemudian pada 758 M kastel ini jatuh ke tangan pemerintahan Cordoba dibawah kepemimpinan Abdurrahman I. Kastel ini pernah dijual oleh Raja Felipe IV kepada Don Francisco del Corral y Guzmán, seorang ksatria Ordo Santiago. Sepeninggalnya, kastel ini diwarisi dan dibangun kembali pada 1902 oleh pangeran Count Torralva ke 12, Marquesado de la Motilla, bersama Don Alfonso Fernandez Casanova yang merupakan seorang arsitek ternama dibalik rekonstruksi kastel ini.[2][3]

Arsitektur Bangunan

Kastil Almodovar memiliki total 9 menara utama, dengan dua menara paling besar yaitu Donjon (la torre del Homenaje) dan menara Sekolah (la torre de la Escuela). Keduanya berada di sisi utara dan selatan, dan bisa dikunjungi wisatawan.[3]
