Karnaval Samba Asakusa (浅草サンバカーニバル, Asakusa Samba Carnival) adalah parade/kontes samba yang diselenggarakan di Asakusa, Taitō, Tokyo, Jepang. Karnaval ini ditonton sekitar setengah juta penonton,[1] diadakan setahun sekali pada Sabtu terakhir bulan Agustus. Bersama tim-tim yang didatangkan dari Brasil, sekitar 4.700 peserta karnaval datang dari berbagai daerah di Jepang.[2] Mereka berlomba menampilkan tari, musik, dan kostum samba terbaik.

Sejarah

Karnaval samba di Asakusa adalah sebuah festival baru di antara festival-festival yang banyak diselenggarakan di Asakusa. Karnaval ini pertama kali diselenggarakan pada tahun 1981. Pada tahun itu, wali kota Taitō mengundang tim pemenang festival samba dari Karnaval Rio di Brazil.[1]

Setiap tahunnya tim-tim peserta yang dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok[1] atau dua kelompok,[2] tampil menari di jalan-jalan di Asakusa. Kelompok pertama adalah kelompok unggulan terdiri dari penari-penari samba profesional disertai pemain perkusi. Kelompok kedua dan ketiga diikuti peserta yang memeriahkan karnaval dengan menari samba dan mempertontonkan kostum mereka.
