Skema kerja LAN dengan WAN

Jaringan area luas atau jejaring area luas (bahasa Inggris: wide area network; WAN) merupakan jejaring komputer yang mencakup area yang besar sebagai contoh yaitu jejaring komputer antara wilayah, kota atau bahkan negara, atau dapat didefinisikan juga sebagai jejaring komputer yang membutuhkan perute dan saluran komunikasi publik.

WAN digunakan untuk menghubungkan jejaring area setempat yang satu dengan jejaring setempat yang lain, sehingga pengguna atau komputer di lokasi yang satu dapat berkomunikasi dengan pengguna dan komputer di lokasi lain.

Manfaat Jaringan WAN

Manfaat dari penggunaan jaringan WAN adalah meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas dalam sebuah organisasi atau perusahaan yang memiliki jaringan LAN di beberapa lokasi. Karyawan dapat dengan mudah mengakses informasi dan berbagi sumber daya seperti printer, scanner, dan file secara cepat dan mudah, meskipun jaringan LAN yang terhubung berada di lokasi yang berbeda.[1]
