Pada tanggal 23 April 2018, insiden melibatkan van terjadi di North York City Centre di persimpangan Yonge Street dan Finch Avenue di North York, Toronto, Ontario, Kanada.[1] Van sewaan Ryder putih Chevrolet Express berwarna putih menabrak sejumlah pejalan kaki.[1] Motif dan identitas tersangka belum diketahui.[2]

Insiden

Insiden ini terjadi di sekitar Yonge Street dan Finch Avenue[1] pada pukul 13:30 (EDT).[3] Mobil van Chevrolet Express tersebut langsung melaju ke selatan setelah menaiki trotoar dan menabrak orang-orang di pinggir jalan.[3] Pengemudinya kabur dari lokasi kejadian.[4] Beberapa jam setelah insiden terjadi, kepolisian Toronto mengepung sebuah van putih di sebuah gudang dekat Poyntz dan Yonge Street.[5] Tersangka kemudian ditangkap.[5]

Toronto Police Service melaporkan bahwa 9 orang tewas dan 16 lainnya luka-luka.[6] CNN melaporkan bahwa insiden ini "disengaja".[7]

Buntut

Badan angkutan umum Toronto menyatakan bahwa operasi kereta bawah tanah di sekitar lokasi kejadian dihentikan sementara.[2]
