Henry Inman (28 Oktober 1801 – 17 Januari 1846) adalah seorang seniman Amerika Serikat.[1] Ia merupakan pelukis yang mendedikasikan dirinya untuk melukis.[1]

Kehidupan

Henry, sejak masih remaja, menyukai hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan seni.[1] Pada tahun 1814, John W. Jarvis, seorang pelukis, menjadikannya sebagai murid. Henry belajar pada Jarvis selama tujuh tahun.[1]

Pada tahun 1832, ia menikah dan pindah ke Mount Holly, Philadelphia.[1] Ia mendirikan Akademi Nasional Desain dan ia menjadi wakil presiden.[1]

Karakteristik lukisan Henry dapat dilihat pada hasil karyanya dalam lukisan John Marshall, Marquis de Lafayette, William Penn, Martin Van Buren, Fitz-Greene Halleck, John J. Audubon, DeWitt Clinton, Clara Barton, dan bishop William White.[1] Sebagian besar karya-karyanya disimpan di New York, Albania, dan Philadelphia.[1] Karyanya yang terkenal adalah lukisan William Wordsworth, seorang penyair, yang dilukis ketika Henry berada di Inggris pada tahun 1844–1845. Lukisan tersebut kemudian disimpan di University of Pennsylvania.[1]
