Guilhèm V dari Montpellier

Guillaume V (atau Guilhèm V; † 1121) merupakan seorang Lord Montpellier dari tahun 1068 sampai kematiannya.[1] Ia adalah putra Guilhèm IV.

Segera setelah kematian ayahandanya, ibundanya, Ermengarda, keluar dari Montpellier untuk menikah dengan Lord Anduze. Guilhèm IV telah menyerahkan bimbingan putranya kepada nenek anak itu, Beliarde, dan kerabat terdekatnya: Guilhèm Arnold, Ramon Etienne, dan Guilhèm Aymoin. Setelah konflik singkat dengan uskup Maguelonne, Guilhèm V memberi penghormatan kepada uskup pada tanggal 10 Desember 1090 dan diakui sebagai lord Montpellier.

Pada panggilan Paus Urbanus II, Guilhèm mengambil salib Perang Salib Pertama dalam pasukan Raymond IV dari Toulouse. Dia melayani terutama di penangkapan desa kecil Suriah Ma'arrat al-Numan pada tahun 1098. Setelah jatuhnya Yerusalem pada tahun 1099, Guilhèm tetap di Tanah Suci untuk sementara waktu. Dia tetap di sisi Godfroi de Bouillon dan menemaninya ke pengepungan Antiokhia pada bulan Desember tahun 1097. Dia tidak kembali ke Montpellier sampai tahun 1103, membawa serta peninggalan Santo Kleopas.

Ketika Guilhèm kembali, dia menemukan bahwa saudara-saudara yang dia serahkan administrasi lord dalam ketidakhadirannya telah merebut banyak hak seigniorial dan bahwa dia berkewajiban untuk mengenali banyak otoritas baru mereka, yang mengecilkan dirinya sendiri, untuk mempertahankan posisinya.

Guilhèm berpartisipasi dalam pasukan Ramón Berenguer III dari Barcelona yang merebut Mallorca dari Moor pada tahun 1114. Sisa pemerintahannya ditandai oleh perolehan penting wilayah-wilayah terdekat, yang sangat melengkapi kekuatannya: Montarnaud, Cournonsec, Montferrier, Frontignan, Aumelas, Montbazin, Popian.

Melalui pernikahannya dengan Ermensenda, putri Pierre, Comte Mauguio, ia memiliki enam orang anak:
