Gosei (五省, go-sei, arti harfiah: Lima refleksi) adalah mata pelajaran untuk meditasi harian di Akademi Angkatan Laut Jepang.

Lima Refleksi

Refleksi ini awalnya dirancang oleh Laksamana Madya Hajime Matsushita, yang merupakan Kepala dari Akademi Angkatan Laut Kekaisaran Jepang dan digunakan sejak tahun 1932 sampai pada tahun 1945. Setiap malam, para taruna diharapkan untuk merenungkan ayat berikut ini.[1]

  1. Sudahkah Engkau tidak menentang ketulusan (至誠に悖る勿かりしか, Hast thou not gone against sincerity)[2]
  2. Sudahkah Engkau tidak merasa malu dengan kata-kata dan perbuatanmu (言行に恥づる勿かりしか, Hast thou not felt ashamed of thy words and deeds)[2]
  3. Sudahkah Engkau tidak kekurangan semangat sedikitpun (気力に缺くる勿かりしか, Hast thou not lacked vigor)[2]
  4. Sudahkah Engkau mengerahkan segala upaya yang dimungkinkan (努力に憾み勿かりしか, Hast thou exerted all possible efforts)[2]
  5. Sudahkah Engkau tidak menjadi seorang pemalas (不精に亘る勿かりしか, Hast thou not become slothful)[2]

Angkatan Laut Bela Diri Jepang, sejak pendiriannya pada tahun 1954, mendorong penggunaan Gosei sebagai latihan refleksi diri dala kehidupan sehari-hari mereka.

Inti dari praktek kontemplatif ini telah diterjemahkan ke dalam Bahasa Inggris dan telah dibahas di Akademi Angkatan Laut Amerika Serikat.[3]
