Lagu ini dirilis pada 31 Agustus 2007 oleh Jive Records, sebagai singel utama dari album tersebut. "Gimme More" direkam pada tahun 2006 saat kehamilan kedua Spears dan merupakan salah satu produksi solo pertama Danja. Lagu ini dibuka dengan intro di mana Spears mengucapkan kalimat, "It's Britney, bitch." Secara musikal, "Gimme More" merupakan lagu dengan unsur dance-pop, electropop, dan EDM yang menggunakan vokal yang bernafas. Lagu ditutup dengan outro pidato oleh Danja.
