Francesca Cabrini

Francesca Xavier Cabrini adalah seorang Santa yang dilahirkan di Lombardy, Italia pada tanggal 15 Juni 1850 dengan nama Maria Francesca Cabrini.[1] Ia diperingati setiap tanggal 13 November.[2] Ia mendedikasikan dirinya kepada para imigran dari Italia yang datang ke Amerika Serikat.[1] Ia berhasrat untuk menjadi seorang biarawati, tetapi karena kesehatannya yang lemah, ia sempat ditolak oleh 2 ordo.[1] Akhirnya, Cabrini masuk ke sebuah perkumpulan yang bernama "Daughters of the Sacred Heart" dari tahun 1863 hingga 1868.[1] Dalam perkumpulan tersebut, ia pertama-tama menjadi seorang pengajar, lalu menjadi pengurus dari sebuah rumah yatim piatu di Codogno.[1] Ketika rumah tersebut ditutup pada tahun 1880, ia mendirikan "Missionaries of The Sacred Heart" dan mengubah namanya menjadi Francesca Xavier Cabrini.[1] Walaupun pada awalnya ia ingin menjadi seorang misionaris ke Cina, tetapi Paus Leo XIII mengirimnya ke Amerika Serikat pada tahun 1889 untuk melayani para imigran Italia di sana.[1] DI sana, ia mendirikan sekolah, rumah sakit, dan rumah yatim piatu sebagai langkah awal pelayanannya.[1]
