Ejaan Baru

Ejaan Baru atau Ejaan LBK (Lembaga Bahasa dan Kesusastraan, pendahulu Pusat Bahasa) adalah ejaan bahasa Indonesia yang dikeluarkan pada tahun 1967. Ejaan ini adalah kelanjutan dari Ejaan Melindo. Anggota pelaksananya pun, selain dari panitia LBK, juga beranggotakan panitia dari Malaysia. Ejaan ini tidak memiliki banyak perbedaan dengan EYD kecuali pada perincian-perincian kaidah saja.[1] Gabungan panitia yang diketuai oleh Anton M. Moeliono saat itu berhasil merumuskan suatu konsep ejaan yang kemudian diberi nama Ejaan Baru. Ejaan ini diresmikan oleh Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, Sarino Mangunpranoto, dengan SK Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan No.062/67, tanggal 19 September 1967.[2][3]

Perubahan yang terdapat pada Ejaan Baru atau Ejaan LBK, antara lain:[4]

  • Huruf ‘tj’ diganti ‘c’, j diganti ‘y,’ ‘nj’ diganti ‘ny,’ ‘sj ‘menjadi ‘sy,’ dan ‘ch’ menjadi ‘kh.’
  • Huruf asing: ‘z,’ ‘y,’ dan ‘f’ disahkan menjadi ejaan bahasa Indonesia. Hal ini disebabkan pemakaian yang sangat produktif.
  • Huruf ‘e’ tidak dibedakan pepet atau bukan, alasannya tidak banyak kata yang berpasangan dengan variasi huruf ‘e’ yang menimbulkan salah pengertian.
