Derailleur adalah sistem transmisi rasio variabel yang umum digunakan pada sepeda, terdiri dari rantai, beberapa sproket dengan ukuran berbeda, dan mekanisme untuk memindahkan rantai dari satu sproket ke sproket lainnya.[1] Meskipun disebut sebagai roda gigi dalam dunia sepeda, roda gigi sepeda ini secara teknis adalah sproket karena dikendarai atau digerakkan oleh rantai, dan tidak digerakkan satu sama lain.[2]

Pemindah gigi depan dan belakang modern biasanya terdiri dari pemandu rantai yang dapat dipindahkan yang dioperasikan dari jarak jauh dengan kabel Bowden yang dipasang ke pemindah gigi yang dipasang pada tabung bawah, batang setang, atau setang.
