Colonel Meow (lahir 11 Oktober 2011[Catatan 1] - mati 29 Januari 2014[1] pada umur 2 tahun) adalah seekor kucing jantan Himalaya-Persia (campuran) yang memegang rekor di Guinness World Record pada 2014 sebagai bulu kucing terpanjang (9 inci[2]/23 cm[3]). Ia menjadi selebritas internet ketika pemiliknya mengepos gambar cemberut diwajahnya ke Facebook dan Instagram.[4][5]

Latar belakang

Colonel Meow adalah kucing yang tadinya diadopsi oleh Seattle Himalaya and Persia Society yang kemudian diadopsi oleh pemiliknya Anne Marie Avey dan Eric Rosario.[4] Colonel Meow mulai tenar ketika pemiliknya memposting gambar cemberut jahatnya ke Facebook dan Instagram.

Colonel Meow telah resmi terdaftar di Guinness World Records pada tahun 2014 sebagai kucing dengan bulu terpanjang yang panjangnya 9 inci atau 23 cm. Pengukuran bulu Colonel Meow diambil oleh tiga dokter hewan independen, rata-rata diambil berdasarkan 10 bulu. Kemudian bukti tersebut dikirim melalui Guinness World Records untuk memverifikasi rekor baru. Kepala editor Guinness World Records menyatakan bahwa Colonel Meow sedang dipersiapkan untuk menjadi bintang.[3]

Komplikasi kesehatan dan kematian

Pada November 2013, Colonel Meow dirawat di rumah sakit karena masalah jantung dan ia juga menjalani operasi yang sulit dan transfusi darah. Pada 31 Januari 2014, pemiliknya mengumumkan di Facebook bahwa Colonel Meow telah meninggal. Colonel Meow meninggal pada tanggal 29 Januari 2014 pada hari rabu malam hari pada umur 2 tahun. Mereka juga menyatakan terima kasih atas dukungan dari lebih dari 350.000 pengikutnya.[5][6]
