Codex Marchalianus yang diberi kode siglum Q adalah naskah berbahasa Yunani dari abad ke-6 yang memuat terjemahan Alkitab ibrani (Tanakh atau Perjanjian Lama) dalam bahasa Yunani yang dikenal sebagai Septuaginta. Teks ditulis pada vellum dalam huruf uncial. Berdasarkan Paleografi diperkirakan dibuat pada abad ke-6.^[1] Namanya berasal dari seorang pemilik naskah ini sebelumnya, René Marchal.^[2]

Deskripsi

Naskah ini berukuran quarto, diatur dalam quires lima lembaran besar atau masing-masing sepuluh lembar, seperti Codex Vaticanus atau Codex Rossanensis. Berisi teks dari dua Belas nabi-Nabi, Kitab Yesaya, Kitab Yeremia dengan Baruch, Kitab Ratapan, Surat, Kitab Yehezkiel, Kitab Daniel, dengan Susanna dan Bel. Urutan 12 nabi-Nabi tidak lazim: Hosea, Amos, Mikha, Yoel, Obaja, Yunus, Nahum, Habakuk, Zefanya, Hagai, Zakharia, dan Maleakhi. Urutan buku adalah sama seperti dalam Codex Vaticanus.^[3][./Codex_Marchalianus#cite_note-Rahlfs-4 [4]]^[4] Kitab Daniel merupakan versi Theodotion.[./Codex_Marchalianus#cite_note-Swete-3 [3]]^[3]

Sebenarnya naskah itu terdiri dari 416 lembar perkamen, tetapi dua belas lembar yang pertama memuat materi patristik dan bukan bagian dari naskah asli. Setiap lembar berukuran 11 x 7 inci (29 x 18 cm). Pada paruh pertama abad ke-19 naskah itu memiliki reputasi sebagai salah satu naskah Septuaginta yang tertua. Umumnya disepakati bahwa Codex Marchalianus termasuk keluarga tekstual terdefinisi baik dengan karakteristik Hesychian, dan teks merupakan hasil resensi Hesychian (sebagaimana naskah-naskah A, 26, 86, 106, 198, 233).^[6]^[7]

Tetragrammaton dalam Codex Marchalianus

Dalam Kitab Yesaya 45:18 dimana penerjemah bahasa Yunani Septuaginta menggunakan εγω ειμι untuk menerjemahkan "Akulah YHWH", di waktu itu dikoreksi oleh jurutulis lain menjadi "Akulah Tuhan".^[9]

Naskah ini digunakan dalam diskusi tentang Tetragrammaton.^[10] Codex Marchalianus menggunakan transliterasi bahasa yunani IAO untuk Nama Ilahi,^[11]^[12]^[13] atau tetragrammaton dalam beberapa buku di dalam margin dalam dengan huruf-huruf Yunani (ΠΙΠΙ).[./Codex_Marchalianus#cite_note-Metzger-2 [2]]^[2]

Sejarah

Naskah ini ditulis di Mesir tidak lebih dari abad ke-6. Tampaknya menetap di sana sampai abad ke-9, karena koreksi dan anotasi uncial serta teks menunjukkan bentuk huruf khas Mesir. Dari Mesir itu sebelum abad ke-12 dipindahkan ke Italia Selatan, dan dari situ ke Prancis, di mana naskah itu menjadi milik Biara St Denys dekat Paris.[./Codex_Marchalianus#cite_note-Swete-3 [3]]^[3] René Marchal (sumber nama codex itu) memperoleh naskah itu dari Biara St Denys. Dari perpustakaan Marchal naskah itu jatuh ke tangan Kardinal La Rochefoucauld, yang pada gilirannya menghadiahkan ke College de Clermont, rumah Yesuit terkenal di Paris.[./Codex_Marchalianus#cite_note-Metzger-2 [2]]^[2] Akhirnya, pada tahun 1785, dibeli untuk Perpustakaan Vatikan, tempatnya sampai sekarang.[./Codex_Marchalianus#cite_note-Swete-3 [3]]^[3]^[14]

Codex itu dikenal oleh Bernard de Montfaucon dan Giuseppe Bianchini. Teks codex digunakan oleh J. Morius, Wettstein, Montfaucon. Dikolasi bagi James Parsons, dan diedit oleh Tischendorf di volume keempatnya Nova Collectio 4 (1869), pp. 225–296,^[15] dan dalam volume kesembilannya Nova Collectio 9 (1870), pp. 227–248. Giuseppe Cozza-Luzi menyunting teks pada tahun 1890.^[16]

Disarankan oleh Ceriani pada tahun 1890 bahwa teks codex merupakan resensi Hesychian; tapi tanda-tanda Hexaplaric telah ditambahkan secara bebas, dan margin-margin memasok banyak ekstrak dari Aquila, Symmachus, Theodotion, dan Septuaginta Hexapla.^[4]

Codex ini disimpan di Perpustakaan Vatikan (Ppn. gr. 2125).
