Telur Fregata minor

Cikalang besar (Fregata minor) adalah spesies burung cikalang dalam famili Fregatidae. Burung ini tersebar di lautan tropis, tempat koloni berbiak terdekat adalah Pulau Chrismast di Samudra Hindia, Pulau Manuk, dan Gunung Api di Laut Banda. Di Indonesia penyebarannya meliputi semua kawasan laut nusantara kecuali Kalimantan. Kemungkinan tersebar di seluruh perairan Papua, mengingat koloni berbiak terdekat terdapat di Laut Coral.[2]

Karakteristik

Cikalang besar jantan dicirikan dengan bulu yang keseluruhannya berwarna hitam. Pada burung betinanya memiliki warna pucat pada lehernya. Bagian dada dan panggul atas berwarna putih. Bulu yang berwarna hitam terdapat pada perut dan bagian bawah sayap[3]
